Welcome to Orange Class...

Welcome to Orange Class. Our teacher is Miss Lowe, she is supported by Mrs Aftab, Mrs Ali and Mrs Speight.

We have a bright, colourful and spacious classroom and continuous provision area, allowing children to build on prior learning that has taken place in Red Class. Mrs Speight works in the continuous provision area- she creates lots of new and exciting challenges!

We love working hard in Orange Class; this term we have been thinking about how to be resilient in our work and how to have respect for others.

REMINDER, book bags need to be in every day so your child can practise their reading. P.E is on a Monday and a Tuesday...

Topics that we have covered in English this term:

  • Beauty and the Beast
  • The Gunpowder Plot
  • We're Going on a Bear Hunt
  • Capture the Flag
  • Gruffalo
  • Where The Wild Things Are
  • Beegu

FLAMINGO LAND !

In February we went on a class trip to Flamingo Land Zoo. We loved seeing all of the wild and wonderful animals up close. Megan commented " I loved the sea lion that went snort snort snort!"

Our children found it really interesting taking part in the habitats workshop; we learnt about: The Desert, The Savannah, The Rainforest, The Arctic and The Ocean.

When we got back to school we decided to become 'Habitat Explorers' so we researched different habitats and wrote a description.

WE ARE MINI SCIENCE BOFFINS!

Our children in Year 1 know that Miss Lowe LOVES Science! They were very excited to hear that we had a Science Boffin coming to visit us for the day. We had a fantastic time building rockets and testing to see how high they went when we shot them off into space.

  WE ARE SPACE EXPLORERS!

We had an exciting trip in November to the cinema to see 'Capture the Flag'.  Your children's imaginations were captured straight away. Back in the classroom they wanted to go to the moon, so we decided to build a rocket to take us there. We met a man called 'Bob'. We started to build spaceships, calculate how long it would take to get to the moon, make moon boots and much more...
