Welcome to the Yellow Class page
The adults in our classroom are Mrs Horner, Miss Harrison and Mrs Speight.
***Our P.E. days are Tuesday and Thursday... Please make sure that children are in P.E. kit and trainers on both days...***
Here is our Class Charter which we wrote in our first week back in school.
We all agreed on our class rules and expectations and signed the charter as a promise to always follow it.
Reading at home
Children in Yellow Class are expected to read to an adult at home at least 3 times per week.
Book bags should be brought in on Fridays for home reading to be checked and for new reading books to be issued.
Well done to everyone who has earned a reading reward sticker since September- keep up the remarkable reading!!
Spelling homework is set weekly on Class Dojo.
Each child has their own QR code to log in to Class Dojo,
to access their homework and return it to
Mrs Horner before Friday.
Our first topic in Yellow Class is
We have learnt about the lives of significant individuals from our local area and their impact upon where we live.
Barbara Hepworth and Charles Waterton were both very interesting to learn about.
We have also been learning about Human and Physical Geography in our local area.
We have been writing algorithms in our Computing lessons this term.
We practised writing instructions for each other to follow to get to a specific destination on our grid.
We has a lot of fun dressing up and taking part in spooky activities for Halloween.
We made recipes for magic potions to do an array of mischievous things such as:
- to turn our sister into a cat
- to make ourselves invisible
- to turn our teacher into a mouse
- to make a bad smell go away
I wonder if you can imagine any of the disgusting ingredients that we added into our potions?
We wore odd socks as part of Anti-bullying Week.
Our Golden Rule at The Mount is to 'Treat others as you would like to be treated'.
Yellow Class think that this is also crucial when thinking about how to prevent bullying in our school!
Wellbeing in Yellow Class
We have been enjoying taking part in yoga to help with our wellbeing. We have enjoyed the Cosmic Yoga videos because they are themed.
Strange events in Yellow Class...
Mrs Horner found some very strange objects at her house this term. We then received a strange letter asking for help!
There was an alien in our school grounds who we needed to find!
We hunted the school grounds and put up missing posters asking people to keep an eye out for the alien.
We had a very busy afternoon with a very special task.
The Elf on the Shelf had no shelf to sit on!
We had to design and make a shelf for the Elf to sit on using only lolly sticks and modelling clay.
Which shelf do you think looks the strongest?
We had a lot of fun when completing our
Sponsored Reindeer Dash at the start of December.
Thank you to Mrs Brookwood for organising the event and a huge well done to every child who raised money.
The children who raised the highest amounts of sponsorship money in Yellow Class won a very special treat!
