Welcome to the Year 3 page!

Class Teacher: Miss Fletcher

Class Teaching Assistants: Mrs Hewitt and Mrs Aftab.

We are also very lucky to have Bex as our French teacher.

Green Class PE days are Monday and Tuesday. Book changes and reading record checks are on Thursday.

In maths we have been learning the formal written methods for addition and subtraction. We are now able to use exchanges to add and subtract 3 digit numbers.

In literacy we have been writing narratives based on the book Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitmura. We were able to use our experiences of holding real Stone Age artefacts and tools from our Wakefield Museum workshop Stepping into the Stone Age.

In our first art unit this term we have been learning how to use pastel and charcoal in our art work. Inspired by our Stone Age topic and the Lascaux cave paintings, we have created our own cave paintings using charcoal and pastel to tell a story. We have experimented with the amount of pressure used and ways of using the pastel to create different effects. We used careful line drawing and smudging in our final pieces to bring our work to life.
